We are FTS

FTS USA is the only commercial source for quartz watch movements made in the United States. FTS dedicates space for assembly, testing, and manufacturing within the 69,000 square foot East Valley Institute of Technology’s Fountain Hills Business Accelerator campus.

Our team of certified technicians create and test our Ameriquartz movements under the watchful eye of one of the most respected certified master watchmakers in North America, Mr. Manuel J. Yazijian. He is a CMW21 watchmaker and the former president of the American Watchmakers-Clockmakers Institute (AWCI).

FTS works in partnership with Titan Company Ltd (a TATA Group Company), the 5th largest watch company in the world. They deliver perfection and cutting-edge technology to FTS USA.

The trademark Ameriquartz speaks volumes. Each quartz movement is accurately made of metal components and jeweled to the highest industry standards at our facility by local American technicians. Most importantly, the movements are fully serviceable and spare parts are always available.

Ameriquartz offers a wide range of sizes. The collection is comprised of movements small enough to fit a petite ladies watch and movements large enough for the most robust sports designs. The Ameriquartz line offers a variety of displays that will fit any designer’s vision including a multitude of calendars, moon phases, world time, and more.

Kunal Naik - chief executive officer

Kunal Naik is an MBA graduate of the W.P. Carey School of Business at Arizona State University. He is the CEO and Managing Director of FTS USA and Zee’s International Incorporated, an internationally based manufacturing and marketing firm with of offices in Arizona. Mr. Naik started Zee’s International Incorporated in 1995 as a marketing company and distributor of wristwatches. The Internationally recognized luxury brands created and managed by Kunal Naik include Swisstek & Brillier watches. He was also instrumental in launching Titan, USMC Wrist Armor, and Titoni watches in the USA market.

Through the course of his career, Kunal Naik has worked in conjunction with several government agencies including US Customs and Border Protection and the Office of the Governor of Arizona. Kunal Naik’s expertise include marketing, accounting, design and production, and building successful businesses from the ground up.

 

Manuel yazijian - chief technical officer

Mr. Manuel J. Yazijian has been in the watch repair and sales field for 34 years starting out from the time his father was an Omega watch retailer. Mr. Yazijian began in this field as an apprentice and went on to work for the prestigious Henry Birks and Sons in Montreal, Canada as a bench watchmaker and later on as a technical trainer of their sales staff. He later opened his own service center which he ran for ten years and subsequently became the chief watchmaking instructor and certification coordinator for the American Watchmakers-Clock- makers institute based near Cincinnati, Ohio where he developed and taught the watch repair courses in support of the Industry recognized CW21 exam (Certified Watchmaker - 21st Century).

While at AWCI, he trained many watchmakers with various levels of competence, among them Groupe Richemont watchmakers of the Fort Worth, Texas facility. In late 2007 Yazijian moved to California where he set up his own specialty watch service business aptly named Swiss Watch Service, mainly working on higher end watches, such as vintage and modern Rolex watches.

In early 2012 Yazijian became the Technical Consultant for Swatch Group USA where his main task was to conduct Quality Control inspections and improvement of watch service providers across the USA, Canada and the Caribbean. He also served as the president of the American Watchmakers-Clockmakers Institute for the designated two years, from 2012 to 2014. Among many of the technical trainings received, Mr. Yazijian has been to WOSTEP Switzerland for a specialization course in Mechanical Chronographs.

Gary George girdvainis - Director of sales usa

Isochron Media was founded by long-time industry member Gary George Girdvainis as a vehicle to embrace, enhance, promote, and develop watch culture in North America and around the world.

With roots in the industry as far back as 1990, Mr. Girdvainis developed and enacted the business model to launch the rst consumer-oriented publication on wristwatches in the USA. International Wristwatch was a spin- off of the industry leader - Orologi da Polso, published in Italy and later in English (as International Wristwatch UK) for the British market.

After more than two decades as the Editor-in-Chief of IW, and Group Publisher of Fine Life Media, he formed Isochron Media LLC as the parent company for two new watch-centric publications: “WristWatch” and “AboutTime” magazines.

 

Tom Ellis - Director of Business Development USA

Mr. Ellis brings 27 years of experience in the watch industry. He served as Vice President Marketing and Sales at Wenger Genuine Swiss Army Knife from the founding of the watch business in 1991 through the explosive growth of the brand in the 90’s and early 2000’s. He subsequently joined Luminox watch as General Manager of the US company. In 2006, he founded his own consulting company in Murrells Inlet SC, focusing primarily on the watch industry, and developing watch brands and US and International distribution for US Marine Corps and Zippo, among others. He has also represented Swiss brands such as Charmex Swiss Military, Swiza and Trend Creation (Swiss made private label) to develop US distribution.

Jacob ornelas - chief engineer

Jacob Ornelas is a graduate of the Ira A. Fulton School of Engineering with a Bachelors of Science in Electrical Engineering. Mr. Ornelas has worked in research and development of semiconductor component design, implantable medical devices, and high-end aerospace avionics. For the past 10 years Mr. Ornelas has worked directly with customers, prime contractors and subprime contractors to fulfill a $3.4B contract through his support in integration and test of launch vehicles. His direct contributions included cost account management, avionics design, requirement verification, and testing of six flight tests and 22 launch vehicles, which allowed contract fulfillment.

 

kent despain - chief financial officer

Mr. Despain is a graduate of the Thunderbird American Graduate School of International Management and has over 30 years of accounting experience including public accounting rms, small entrepreneurial companies, mid-sized private and public companies, and fortune 500 companies.

He has experience in various industries: small and large manufacturing companies, retail, construction, real estate development, retail petroleum, auto services, restaurants, commercial property management, and inter- national nance. Mr. Despain has successfully managed the transition of small accounting departments to world class finance departments.
